Introducing Bremerton Wines Wiggy Sparkling Chardonnay

Hello, welcome to Bremerton Wines Virtual Cellar Door series. We’re Rebecca and Lucy Willson, the brains and the makers behind the wines we’ll be trying.

We’d really love to introduce you to Wiggy. Don’t let the name fool you, our Wiggy is actually a sparkling chardonnay and is named after our mum, Mignonne. Her nickname has always been Wiggy and she’s known for being really bright and bubbly. So it was obvious to us when we were making a bubbly that there was nothing else we could possibly call it!

In Australia, we can’t use the term Champagne but it is made in the traditional French method – which is a bottle fermented sparkling. This means it actually ferments in the bottle, maturing with the yeast in the bottle for four years, also providing an absolutely glorious fine bubble. The yeast also adds a really creamy brioche character to the mid palate.

When you drink this sparkling wine, you will find it to be very delicate on the palate. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this is quite dry and very refreshing. It’s brilliant for celebrating with friends, but honestly, you don’t really need an excuse to pop the cork on this! We hope you come and try a bottle soon. You can only try this at the cellar door or buy online, so it’s totally worth the effort to come and see us.

Luckily we’re only 50 minute’s drive from Adelaide in the gorgeous Langhorne Creek. So while our Virtual Cellar Door whets the eyes, it doesn’t quite compare to wetting the taste buds! Hopefully, we’ll see you soon – the Wiggy is on ice.
