Old Adam Shiraz
VINTAGE 2002:
This VERY limited release of our Old Adam Shiraz label is a result of fastidious batch and barrel selection from the wonderful 2002 vintage. The Old Adam is a combination of parcels of wine from the best blocks of Shiraz
The 2002 vintage is an excellent example of premium Langhorne Creek Shiraz, showing intensity of rich fruit flavours and elegant integrated oak, providing a delicious, well structured, complex wine that will benefit fom careful cellaring.
We are in a unique position in that we are able to keep all parcels of our wine separate from the time of picking through fermentation to oak maturation. Following some barrel maturation, each parcel is assessed, and the most outstanding parcels of Shiraz are allowed further maturation before being blended to create the Old Adam. This process allows us to maintain the quality distinction and fantastic reputation of this fine wine.
The low yielding high quality fruit was fermented in open vats, and then matured for 22 months in new premium selected extra fine grain American oak barriques. It then received 12 months bottle maturation prior to release to allow full integration of oak and fruit tannin. Reward with cellaring up to 10 years.
